Cairngorm at Alistir Wood Tait

Caringorm is the traditional name given to varieties of quartz from the mountainous regions of Scotland, particularly Grampian and Cairngorm.

The colour ranges from clear quartz (crystal) through yellow (citrine) and brown hues to dark brown and even to opaque black (morion) varieties.

At Alistir Wood Tait we have many antique examples of cairngorm jewellery as well as modern designs made from stones we have collected, cut and faceted ourselves. We have collected gemstones all over Scotland but genuine cairngorm is very rare and we are proud to be able to offer it to our customers.

A fine collection of natural crystals and antique cairngorm jewellery may be seen in the National Museums of Scotland , Edinburgh.
